A New Home for the Freight

The Freight and Salvage Coffee House has reached an extraordinary moment in our history. Over the four decades that we've been presenting and supporting traditional music in Berkeley, our vision has flourished in a truly inspiring way. More and more people are drawn to our mission of fostering folk and traditional music that is rooted in cultures from all corners of the globe.

Located at 2020 Addison Street (between Shattuck and Milvia Streets)—right in the middle of the Downtown Berkeley Arts District—we'll be in excellent company with fellow nonprofits like the Berkeley Repertory Theatre, the Jazzschool, Aurora Theatre, and the East Bay Media Center, plus soon-to-be-neighbors, the University Art Museum, Judah L. Magnes Museum, and the Pacific Film Archive.

Thanks to the generous support of an incredible range of people and organizations, from the City of Berkeley to various foundations and corporations, to the many individual traditional music enthusiasts, the Freight continues to evolve as one of the West Coast’s finest performance and educational venues for the music we all love.
